WWE SummerSlam 2019 Results: Bray Wyatt Destroys Finn Balor, Who Is Hopefully Gone For Good

WWE Summer Slam Bray wyatt vs Finn Bailor
Bray Wyatt made quick work of Finn Balor in the next major step in his highly complex and entertaining character redesign.
As The Fiend, who was first introduced via Wyatt’s Firefly Fun House, Wyatt has appeared on WWE television to attack the likes of WWE Hall of Famers Mick Foley, Kurt Angle and the aforementioned Balor.
Complete with new theme music, and even a creepy new lantern fashioned to look like Bray Wyatt’s head, The Fiend’s debut was a rousing success in the Scotiabank Arena, which chanted “that was awesome,” following the victory.
Balor’s loss is expected to lead to time off for the middling star, and while his entire run has not been a failure per se, Balor has a clearly defined ceiling—a ceiling which has lowered just about every year since his WWE Universal Championship victory over Seth Rollins in his pay-per-view debut at SummerSlam in 2016.
Cut to 2019 and Rollins is once again competing for the Universal Championship while Balor is firmly positioned as the setup guy to relaunch Bray Wyatt.

With Balor likely off to recharge his batteries, WWE should not only consider bringing him back as The Demon down the line, but keeping him that way.
Balor’s character is essentially a vanilla Clark Kent type who pales in comparison to the much more unstoppable and must-see superhero in The Demon.
It would be one thing if Finn Balor had a dynamic personality and the ability to cut a promo that anybody remembered or cared about, but these are skillsets that elude him.
As a result, Balor seems that much more ordinary in contrast to The Demon.
I’ve been saying this for years, but nobody ever paid their hard-earned money to see Steve Borden—the real-world, more human version of Sting—and as long as Balor’s undefeated (on the main roster) face-painted alter-ego is a thing, the same will apply to Finn Balor.
By only rolling out The Demon every so often, WWE has done a disservice to the Balor character.
With WWE continuing to struggle to hook young fans, The Demon has every quality that could encapsulate a child’s imagination. The cool entrance. The bodypaint.
The Marvel/DC Antihero bona fides. It’s like WWE was gifted with Spawn and instead decided to really lean into this whole Albert Francis Simmons thing.
As an undersized athlete with extremely limited promo skills, Balor’s greatest talent is a talent many in the WWE share—great in-ring ability—rendering him an interchangeable slog on WWE programming.
The Demon, meanwhile, could be the answer to far more than just Finn Balor’s problems.
